Introduction to SQL and SQL tutorials from SQL Dumpster

What is SQL?

SQL is an acronym of Structured Query Language and is a pragramming language created for managing data within a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).

SQL is used by almost all modern Relational Database Management Systems:- MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, MSDE, DB2, Sybase, Postgres and Informix all use SQL as the standard database language. Although, based on the same language, the syntax and usage does vary between each RDBMS.

Structured Query Language (SQL) is primarily used to select and manipulate data within a database table using queries. You can find out more about databases and tables on the next page
